About the tour
The blue Caribbean ocean, white beaches and endless palm trees await you… But did you know all the San Blas islands are owned and inhabited by the indigenous Guna tribe?
Hector is one of those indigenous Gunas and he wants to share his culture and the most beautiful islands with you.
How does it work?
The journey will take you along the San Blas Islands from Sapzurro, Colombia to Panama City. The groups are small to ensure a personal and intimate experience.
You will be guided by Hector, who speaks the Guna language and Spanish, and Guna Captain Albeiro who drives the boat. The boat has a roof against sun and rain. If you don't speak any Spanish, we will arrange that someone can translate everything to English for you.
Activities
You will visit the most beautiful islands, the indigenous villages, can go snorkeling and kayaking, see the indigenous dances, get traditional temporary tattoos and learn how the traditional Guna clothes are made. In May you can see the 2-3 meter long turtles hatch!
The indigenous Guna people
Did you know the Guna tribe always sleeps in hammocks? And that they even bury their loved ones in a hammock that they hang up underground? With Hector as your indigenous guide you will hear about the many traditions of his culture and he will take you to the most beautiful islands.
What will you get?
The transportation from Sapzurro to the port of Carti, 3 nights shared accommodation on the islands and food are all included in the $425. We also arrange a jeep for the standard price of $30 to bring you from Carti to Panama City. We will provide you with delicious food and adapt to any dietary restrictions. If you want to stay longer or shorter, contact us and we can arrange a personalized tour for you.

Before the tour
The day before the tour starts, we will have to get the stamp for leaving Colombia together, because the office is only open on specific hours and we leave very early in the morning on the day our tour officially starts. After stamping out, officials give us 24 hours to get the next stamp into Panama, which is only a 30-minute boat ride away from Capurgana. We will have a briefing in Capurgana and get the stamp together, and we will help you out with all the administration needed for the border crossing!
